چکیده
This study presents the results of an experimental campaign on use municipal solid waste incinerator bottom ash (MIBA) and fly (FA) as precursors for production alkali-activated materials. MIBA was subjected to a pre-treatment stage in response two issues: high metallic aluminum content, which reacts pH solution, releasing hydrogen; low amorphous content silica-, aluminum- calcium-bearing phases, translates into limited formation reaction products. The proposed oxidizes most fraction compensates reactivity material via additional reactants. Different combinations FA were tried—mass-based ratios 0/100, 25/75, 50/50, 75/25, 100/0 MIBA/FA. Two mix designs alkaline activator with sodium hydroxide silicate evaluated by varying Na2O/binder SiO2/Na2O ratios. These mortars tested fresh hardened state. showed that effective at stabilizing dimensional variation MIBA. Despite lower MIBA, 50/50 MIBA/FA presented maximum 28-day compressive strength 25.2 MPa, higher than 5.7 MPa made only.

Properties of Concrete with Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator Bottom Ash
The appropriate utilization of Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) residues is a worldwide studied topic over the last decades. One of the possibilities is to use MSWI ashes in concrete production, as it is done with coal combustion products. The bottom ash features the most convenient composition for this purpose, and it is available in highest amounts among the MSWI ashes. Untreated bot...
متن کاملToxicity mitigation and solidification of municipal solid waste incinerator fly ash using alkaline activated coal ash.
Municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration is a common and effective practice to reduce the volume of solid waste in urban areas. However, the byproduct of this process is a fly ash (IFA), which contains large quantities of toxic contaminants. The purpose of this research study was to analyze the chemical, physical and mechanical behaviors resulting from the gradual introduction of IFA to an alka...
متن کاملCarbon dioxide sequestration in municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) bottom ash.
During bottom ash weathering, carbonation under atmospheric conditions induces physico-chemical evolutions leading to the pacification of the material. Fresh bottom ash samples were subjected to an accelerated carbonation using pure CO2. The aim of this work was to quantify the volume of CO2 that could be sequestrated with a view to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and investigate the possibilit...
متن کاملRecycling of Pre-Washed Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator Fly Ash in the Manufacturing of Low Temperature Setting Geopolymer Materials
In this work, three samples of municipal solid waste incinerators fly ash (MSWI-FA) have been stabilized in systems containing coal fly ash to create geopolymers through a polycondensation reaction. Monolithic products have been obtained with both MSWI fly ash as received and after the partial removal of chloride and sulfate by water washing. The polycondensation products have been characterize...
متن کاملDistribution of Chloride in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash
Chloride content is a critical problem for the reuse of incineration bottom ash as raw material in cement. The effect of dechlorination procedure largely depends on the existence form of the chlorides. However, limited information about the distribution and identity of chlorides in bottom ash can be obtained by bulk analysis methods. In this paper, the investigation towards a more comprehensive...
